Canada Self-Employed Persons Program
The Self-employed Persons Program allows people to immigrate to Canada permanently as a self-employed person. Applicants must demonstrate that they have relevant artistic, athletic, or agricultural experiences that have allowed them to be self-employed while living in the country of origin in order to qualify for business immigration to Canada under the Self-employed Program. To be successful in their application, the candidate must also demonstrate a reasonable level of contribution to one of these three fields based on their relevant experience and skills in Canada. each of these categories have careers that fall under it, and the National Occupation Classification of Canada provides a comprehensive list of all the employment opportunities that fall under them.
The Federal Self Employed Class
It is designed for candidates who have relevant experience in self-employment, and who also intend to contribute significantly to the cultural, artistic, or athletic life of Canada, or they can purchase and manage a farm in Canada to create their own employment. The applicant must have at least 2 years of self-employment in cultural or athletic activities, or have been involved in activity at a world-class level in either cultural or athletic activities, or have experience in farm management in the five years prior to the date of the application. It is important for an applicant to establish adequate financial net worth, which is somewhat less than an entrepreneur and not specifically defined in the regulations, but allows the applicant to be self-employed in Canada and contribute substantially to specified economic activities and to meet the initial settlement requirements for the applicant and accompanying dependants.
The Quebec Self-Employed Class
Quebec distinguishes self-employed applicants from skilled worker applicants by the fact that they are entrepreneurs or professionals coming to Canada to start their own business. Applicants must have at least two years of relevant experience, a personal net worth of $100,000 CAD, sufficient settlement funding, as well as a plan to create employment in Quebec by practicing a profession listed in the national occupational classification.
Benefits of Self-Employed Program
A wonderful aspect of the Self-employed Visa Program that distinguishes it from the Entrepreneur Visa Program is that there is no net worth requirement. However, you must also have sufficient funds in order to comply with the usual visa procedure, including supporting any dependents (spouse or children) that you intend to bring to the country with you. The freedom to set up your business on your terms allows you to contribute to the Canadian economy in your own unique way without having to worry about profit margins or corporate mindsets.
Self Employment Programs in Canada provide another advantage because you only need two years of experience in your chosen area of culture, athletics, or agriculture to be eligible to participate in these programs. In contrast to the Federal Skilled Worker Program, there is much more room for entrepreneurship in this program. While you still need to be qualified in your chosen field, there are fewer qualifications.
