Family Class Sponsorship in Canada
When you immigrate to Canada, you may not want to be alone. With the Spousal and Family Sponsorship Class, you don’t have to. Canadian immigration policy emphasizes family reunification as one of its major pillars. Since the end of the Second World War, Canada has welcomed immigrants to strengthen its economy and to unite families, in addition to humanitarian and compassionate reasons. Canada is targeting the highest levels of immigration in its history to support its post-COVID economic recovery. As such, Canada aims to welcome over 400,000 new immigrants per year, of which over 100,000 fall under the family class. Approximately 80 per cent of these immigrants enter Canada through the Spouses, Partners, and Children (SPOC) program, and the remaining 20 per cent enter through the Parents and Grandparents (P&G) program.
This Sponsorship Class was created by the Canadian government, to help reunite families whenever possible. Family Class Sponsorship offers several categories to help you and your loved ones get together.
Who Can I Sponsor?
If you are a permanent resident of Canada, you can sponsor your spouse, common-law partner, or conjugal partner, or dependent child to migrate to Canada as a permanent resident. The dependent spouse, children or parents can be inside or outside Canada at the time of application. Following are the various kinds of sponsorship visas an applicant can apply for.
Spousal and Common-Law Partner Sponsorship
Canadian permanent residents or citizens can sponsor their non-Canadian spouses, common-law partners, or conjugal partners once they have been approved by the IRCC. Sponsorship can be offered either through an Outland Sponsorship or an Inland Sponsorship.
Dependent Child Sponsorship
Both naturally born and adopted children can be sponsored to Immigrate as long as both the sponsor and the beneficiary are approved by IRCC. The Dependent Child Sponsorship provides permanent residency and the opportunity to study and work in Canada to children under the age of 22 who are not married or have a common-law partner.
Parents and Grandparents Sponsorship
The program allows you to sponsor your parents and grandparents for permanent residency in Canada as long as you can provide them with financial support and assure them that they don't need any social assistance.
